Hi Tobias and Christian,
I’m currently testing the new search offline POI function in the beta version of OruxMaps.
I realized also using Cruiser, which lack significant tags that you haven’t included in the data, important in a hiking cartography, of objects that are still visible on the map. These are:
– place=locality
– tourism=wilderness_hut
– historic=archaeological_site
– natural=cave_entranceBest Regards
March 19, 2017 at 13:14 #16154EmuxParticipantI see that those tags are missing in the official Mapsforge poi-mapping.xml configuration with the OSM tags.
Does OpenAndroMaps use the same poi-mapping?
I can update it (or you can provide a pull request) as we agree at what point in categories tree we can put those tags.March 19, 2017 at 13:44 #16156TobiasKeymasterThe used POI mapping is here:
http://download.openandromaps.org/pois/oam-mapping.xml
It has yet to be compared and adapted to the current tag-mapping of the maps.I also realized that some important tags for outdoor use are missing, and I think changing the categories to something more logical like the Elevate overlays (instead of mainly OSM tags like amenity=, leisure=,…) makes also sense to me.
Up to now the POIs were mainly offered so that app providers have a reason to include the POI feature. As finally OruxMaps included them in the beta versions this week, it’s time to invest a bit more effort 🙂

Does OpenAndroMaps use the same poi-mapping
For 95% I think.
However, I agree with @Tobias that layer-structure + tags should be adopted to Elevate Theme.Best regards

I resume here this topic open than a year ago, to say that offline search with both Oruxmaps and Cruiser is still incomplete, compared to the potential data contained in OSM
Particularly on Oruxmaps, it is very far behind, I hope that soon Jose will fix it.

Hello
I have installed Japan, New Zealand and GB in Locus. When I “Search address (offline)” I get “No offline address data here yet!”.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you.January 24, 2019 at 13:01 #26865ChristianKKeymasterHi,
Am I doing something wrong?
No, you don’t.
Unfortunately Locus has its own format for POIs, non-compatibel with standard mapsforge POI-Structure.I hope that this will change in future.
Best regards
