    Hello,
I’ve been experimenting with your USA maps in Oruxmaps; very nice, thank you! Is there a way to display contour-line labels in feet rather than meters? Better yet, have contour interval in round number feet, say 50feet?

    Thanks!

    Hi David,

I’m aware that in USA,GB,aso the units are imperial rather than metric.

Unfortunately contourlines in feet are not possible.
1.) The tool for producing the contour lines works in [meter] only.
2.) There is no real “elevation” data in Vectormaps, the contourlines have to be preprocessed as “ways” like highways/paths and these ways are displayed.

So there is no way to display “flexible” elevation lines [imperial/metric]

    Sorry
    Christian

OK, thanks, Christian. Can you explain briefly the contour-line generation process with OSM data? Just my curiosity, wondering how contour-lines can be added to OSM database, which I believe has no elevation data.

Christian picks the SRTM data from different sources and generates those contour lines by a script and adds those “ways” to the map.

Just for reference, contour lines in the UK are standardised in metric these days.

I’m aware that in USA,GB,aso the units are imperial rather than metric
