I can’t seem to get OpenAndroMaps to display unpaved roads differently to, say, asphalt roads.

    What I’ve tried:
    – checked OSM to make sure my test area had both (in my case, unpaved and asphalt
    – tinkered with theme XMLs to give those surfaces differentiating look

…but to no avail. I’m definitely no expert, but I’m guessing OpenAndroMaps do not carry over OSM’s surface information. Is this a tag mapping issue?

    Any tips?

Are you using Elevate 4 map style? Just check the “extended road surfaces” overlay in your app, and surface information will be displayed on most OSM “highways”. How is described in the map key.

Yes, I am using Elevate 4. And I had extended road surfaces checked.

For some reason, in map themes, I saw Elements, Elements LE, Elevate and Elevate LE. I deleted LE versions via file manager and now everything works.

Thanks for the help. This looks really good!

Thanks! The LE versions are the “Locus Edition”; this means for the Locus mapsforge fork, which doesn’t work well with regular mapsforge themes. They coexist peacefully with the regular versions and are used for V3 maps, while the regular ones are used for V4 maps. Both show the extended road surfaces, but you have to use OpenAndroMaps, other mapsforge maps don’t work.
