    Hello,
now that the Elevate 3.X theme works for Locus as well, I think the download page should be changed accordingly (it now says “version for Oruxmaps and version for Locus”.

    Thank you :)

    Hi Gina,
I don’t really understand what’s missing, on the download page for Elevate it never says “version for Oruxmaps and version for Locus.
In the table for Elevate 3 it clearly mentions Locus, see the attached screenshot.
    Best regards,
    Tobias

PS – Just changed the download table to make it less tech savvy,

The function in Locus and Orux is the same in the end for the user
However, the internal structures in Locus and Orux are slightly different so there is need for two Versions of the Elements/Elevate3.
One for Locus and one for Mapsforge5 compatible APPs (like Orux).
You cant use the Elevate3/Locus for Orux or vice versa.

    Best regards,

Oh, the question was if you could use the same files? In theory yes, but it would look not as similar as the different versions that are available, and having two xml files in one folder is still not possible.

the internal structures in Locus and Orux are slightly different so there is need for two Versions of the Elements/Elevate3.

Not that slightly anymore. There are lot of changes which I have scripted to make them work:
Locus only supports some but not all mapsforge 0.5 tags. Those other tags are ignored by Locus now, but by replacing them with old tags or Locus proprietary ones the rendering gets similar, but not in the same scale.
Therefore up to five different values are scaled (font size, dy, circles etc.), and SVGs are handled different, too (just look at the standard SVG version in Locus – the symbols are huge).
So a lot is changed to make the rendering about the same in all apps, but there are some things that can’t be done.

Maybe that were too much details, but I’ve given up on making one version that fits all – I learned that while experimenting with Lightning.
