I struggle to remember the seven track styles in Elevate. I thought it might be useful to copy the map key .pdf file to my ‘phone for reference. I have not been able to copy a downloaded file from my Windows PC to my Moto G or save an open .pdf file to it directly. I wonder if other users might have suggestions or alternative solutions.

I use TotalCommander with either the TC Dropbox plugin (storing files in Dropbox) or the TC LAN plugin to copy files between my Windows PC and my MotoG and vice versa. In both cases I am using a WiFi connection.

You can try also AirDroid for file transfers and more things.

Your replies prompted to remind me I have ES File Explorer on my ‘phone and I had not tried it for this situation. It worked perfectly. The opposite was true recently when a solution to another issue was pointed out to me to be far simpler by using Windows Explorer than ES File Explorer. I smile continually at my shortcomings.
    I thank you both.

It’s easier to download it directly. That’s what it’s meant for.

With my Moto G with Adobe Acrobat installed I only have to click on the link in Chrome, then I’m offered to open the file with Adobe Acrobat. If I do this, the file is downloaded to “/sdcard0/download/Adobe Acrobat” and opened. If you close the file, there are several ways to reopen it, e.g. navigate with a file browser to said directory, or use the recent file list in Adobe Acrobat.

If you aren’t offered to open the file with Adobe Acrobat, another App is already the default handler for pdf files, either a browser/download app or another pdf viewer. If the first is true you should see a symbol for the download in the notification bar, and you can use this notification to open the file. If the second is true the file should be opened with the respective app. You can reset the default handler in the app settings of android of the respective app.

    Best regards,
    Tobias
