    Hi,

I’m a newbie and impressed with these maps. I’ve got Locus Free 3.9.1 installed on my phone and have downloaded the vector map for Great Britain together with Elevate 3SVG for Locus. The set up worked fine and looks good.

However our national parks (e.g. Lake District and Peak District) are covered in a green squares which I believe are the marking for nature reserves (or possibly “cycling not allowed”). They make the map difficult to read. I’ve tried switching mode (hiking, cycling and roads); I have deleted the images for nature reserves (normal, large and extra large) and “cycling not allowed” in mapsVector/_themes/Elevate3_Locu_SVG/ele_res_svg/. I’ve tried clearing my cache and rebooting but cannot get rid of the green squares.

Is there any way I can remove the green squares?

You can try a third party theme, such as Elevate/Elements available from this site (under Map Styles, above) or my Voluntary UK theme available for free from the Locus Store (Store > By Usage > Graphic > Themes > Locus Community > Voluntary)
Both avoid the ugly artefact that occurs with the Locus built-in themes and the OpenAndroMap map.

Seems like you haven’t chosen Elevate as your map theme.
Elevate uses green diagonals for marking protected areas, no cross hatch (see screenshot). And you can deactivate it by deselecting the overlay “borders + special areas”.

In the installation instructions you can read how:
    – In Locus use the button for changing the theme that should appear at the bottom left side of the map if you load a vector map (if not, use “Menu”, “Settings”, “Map – control & panels”, touch on “Onscreen Maps Themes Switch” below “Map screen – panels”)
    – If necessary hit “Show more” below “Internal themes” and touch the name of the theme, e.g. “Elevate”
    – For switching mapstyles and overlays, a menu pops up when choosing the theme. To change again later, just use the button again.

If you have deleted icons and patterns from the folders and locus is still running you havent switched to elevate3.

Before you switch to Elevate please reinstall Elevate with all files or Locus will show an error.

Many thanks. I can not access Locus Store (I get the message “This feature is in preparation”. I found your files on the Locus forum and downloaded them. Is the map file a substitue for the UK map on this site or is it an addition to it. Should the “Great Britain” map be stored in the main vector maps folder of the go in the themes sub-folder.

I am planning uninstalling and reinstallling everything as I can not get rid of the green lines.

Thanks. I read these instructions earlier but can not follow them as there is no button for changing the theme at the bottom left side of the map or “Onscreen Maps Themes Switch” in the rrelevant place in the menu. I will uninstall everything (including Locus) and start again. I am using the free version of Locus. Do I need the pro version to get the vector maps to work?

The view I am getting is pasted below.

I can confirm that the green squares you get are artefacts that occur with the Great Britain map from this site (which is great) and the built-in themes.
Vector maps work on both pro and free versions.
You can also change the theme with Main Menu > Maps > Long press on map name OR triple dot overflow, Details
Then “Select theme” is near the top of the page. When the theme selector comes up, if necessary hit “Show more” below “Internal themes” and touch the name of the theme.
Voluntary UK theme can be downloaded from https://www.openandromaps.org/en/oam-forums/topic/voluntary-uk
Elevate theme can be downloaded from this site at https://www.openandromaps.org/en/legend/elevate-mountain-hike-theme

Many thanks for the advice. I think there was something corrupted (or I installed something wrong) in the first version of Locus I installed. I started again and now have the ability to switch themes. I am delighted with your theme and the vector maps now.
