And looking at the definition and image of the wiki, I think it’s meant for rural

A turnstile is also used for Subways aso:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=turnstile&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CEEQsARqFQoTCM3i3eOZ38YCFakU2wodkN4ITA&biw=1426&bih=792

However, I’v took a look to some of the austrian turnstiles in the Alps and I dont see any gates here – probably these gates are only used in winter when skiing tourists crowd the Alps and have to be counted instead of the cattle 😉 😉

Seriously , I will add barrrier=turnstile to the tagmapping, the overhead is close to zero.

OK, will be added in the next update, too.

Both kissing gates and turnstiles are shown in the latest version of Voluntary UK, available for free download in this forum at https://www.openandromaps.org/en/oam-forums/topic/voluntary-uk/page/4/#post-5396
There are alternative versions of the kissing gate symbol in the package – just copy them from the svg/extras folder into the svg folder. The same applies if you prefer euro or dollar symbols to pound sterling.

An update for Elevate 2 and 3 has been released today, which also includes kissing gates.

I appreciate the work you have both done to add kissing gates to your themes. I have loaded the most recent versions of Voluntary UK and Elevate 3 into LocusMap on my ‘phone. I see the image and .xml entry in both cases, too. I wonder why those symbols are not visible, at http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=51.51770&mlon=-0.94531#map=18/51.51770/-0.94531, for example?

They are visible for me, see the screenshot attached (theme file: Elements, mapstyle: hiking, overlay: only barriers, ZL 15). Maybe you deactivated the overlay barriers, or you aren’t using the latest mapfile from Christian. He only included kissing_gates after your request starting with July 13th.

I must read my own notes! I have been doing so much with various applications recently, I quite forgot I am using an already-downloaded copy of Great Britain map when starting with Locus Map until Christian provided an update. All should be well. Thankyou.
