I use OpenAndroMaps with Backcountry Navigator on my Samsung S5 for my dual-sport motorcycle back road wanderings here in the US, mostly near home in Vermont. This combination, with the phone mounted on the handlebars, works perfectly.
I just completed a trip west in which we used OpenAndroMaps extensively in Ontario, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Utah. The comprehensiveness and accuracy of OpenAndroMaps is, to me, astounding. It allowed us to easily plan and execute routes which we would never have found otherwise, through territory we had never visited before. It is a mystery to me how information this good on paths so obscure can be assembled from so far away!
Attached are a few photos from this trip. Thank you OpenAndroMaps! Another donation is forthcoming…

    Hi Roger,
looks like a nice trip! Thanks for the kind words (and the upcoming donation).
We’re only in charge of making the maps and map styles, but not of collecting the data – this is done by millions of volunteers via OpenStreetMap, so that can be locals who mapped those tracks. No mystery involved 🙂
    Best regards,
