    Hello!

I’ve installed Poland map from OpenAndroMaps and Elevate 4 map style. I use it with OruxMaps (Android) and I must say map looks great. But I’ve got one problem. The trails aren’t displayed using real world colours, but some other, which doesn’t correspond with colours that can be noticed at the trails in reality. For example, map should look more or less in that way:

but, it looks like in the attached file. As you can see, colours are mixed up. They probably reproducing trails difficulties, but not their real colours.

Could anyone help solving this problem?

The colors for hiking routes don’t have anything to do with difficulty, this is marked by way colors of paths. The colors of routes mark the significance of the route, from international to local, see the map key here:
    https://www.openandromaps.org/en/legend/elevate-mountain-hike-theme#legend

As Elevate and the maps are not developed for a specific country, but for international use, sometimes this might fit with local used colors, sometimes it won’t. There are just too many possibilities in Europe, see here:
    http://www.era-ewv-ferp.com/fileadmin/_migrated/content_uploads/ENG_WAYMARKING_2013_web.pdf

So if you want to see your local colors, you have to adjust the theme file or find a theme specialized for Poland (or other areas with the same color system). But I’m not sure if the significance marked in the map fits the color system you want to see.

    Thanks for your reply!

I’m afraid that, as you said, the problem could be not only with theme, but with the maps also. Is there any tutorial how to begin with Oruxmaps themes, because I don’t have any experience with map/themes creation neither edition.

It will be much more comfortable to use a map, if trails colours on it are consistent with real colours. Especially, when the screen resolution of phone isn’t too high.

What do the colors they trails are marked in Poland mean? Do the correspond to the scheme OpenStreetMap is using (international/national/regional/local routes, see here), or do they mean something else? Because if the latter is true, it won’t help to adjust the theme file, as only the former information is contained in the maps.

But if it’s the scheme as above, just look for the section called “hiking-routes” in the theme file and adjust the colors which are defined by “stroke=#TTRRGGBB”, where TT stands for transparency.

There’s no tutorial on how to edit/create themes, just basic information:

Well, AFAIK in Poland trail colours aren’t related to type of the trail (i.e. international/national/regional/local…). Online http://www.openstreetmap.org map lacks of well coloured trails also. So, it seems there is no simple way to obtain appropriate colours. Maybe the solution for me is to try with http://mapa.ump.waw.pl/ump-www/ – here are correct colours at least in web browser.

Thank you very much for your help and many advices. Hopefully I make use of them sooner than later.
