I am adding Public Rights of Way attributes in JOSM to OpenStreetMap ways that are the paths I walk in my part of the Chiltern Hills in England. It would be useful for me to see those attributes as annotations in Elevate XL Hiking theme that I use in Locus Map on my Moto G 4G. I trust I am permitted to amend the Elevate XL.xml file. I found two instances of k=”name” relating to <rule e=”way” k=”highway” v=”footway|path|track|bridleway…, etc., which I chose to change to k=”prow_ref” or k=”ref:chiltern_society” that are keys added to the OSM ways. Neither change is accepted and ‘Loading’ appears on the screen in numerous places instead of the usual OSM map.
I am unexperienced in such things as .xml construction. Have I missed something else that should be altered or might there be another reason why my changes do not work? Should such changes work?
The tags you are trying to display, k=”prow_ref” or k=”ref:chiltern_society”, are not contained in the maps.
Only those tags which are included in tag-mapping can be displayed.
It’s also not easily possible to add those tag with open values. Only “name” and “ref” can have any value, all other tags are only added with the values defined in tag-mapping. Maybe some tag-transform is possible, but mapsforge maps are pretty limited here.
If you see “loading”, there is something wrong with your code, maybe some typing mistakes etc.
