While you may not be familiar with BackCountry Navigator for Android, it is in widespread use in the US and some other places.
Users of BackCountry Navigator have been beta testing using OpenAndroMaps and done well with them. Some have written me to say they have contributed.
I am interested in allowing smoother integration for installing maps and themes as Locus and Orux have done. We have tested custom actions urls and think we could work similarly.
We could probably have this discussion offline. Thanks.

I think it’s no problem to add action urls for my themes. Last time I checked you only used mapsforge 0.3, is this still valid?
Best regards,

June 4, 2015 at 01:21 #4969We are using mapsforge 0.4
We are looking into mapsforge 0.51 to see how much turmoil it will be. Probably some, but probably worth it.The scheme is backcountrynav-action: and it expects a zip file.
June 4, 2015 at 13:02 #4973Hi Nathan:
I can add a button: Install on Backcountry navigator in the download tables.
What I would try to avoid is use of seperate xml-files for these action, so the whole action should be coded in the URL only if ever possible. And: I strongly suggest to provide a real working progress bar for download and unzip within your app. People hate not to know if a download is frozzen or working and how long it will take to finish.
So we would need:
An working example for an action-url for download of a map and a theme.
And of couse a licence for Tobias and me for testing.Once we decided to start you should provide support for all questions regarding Backcountry Navigator
Best regards

backcountrynav-action://www.openandromaps.org/wp-content/users/tobias/Elevate2_OruxMaps_L.zipIts looking for this scheme, this host, and a zip file.
This should show you progress of download and at the end invite you to choose one of the XML files as a theme.
backcountrynav-action-map://www.openandromaps.org/maps/asia/Maldives.zip
Looking for this scheme and a zip file.
This should allow you to choose the folder path, if desired, where maps should be placed. Then choosing install, it should show progress and give you the option to view when it is completed. The view is more likely to be successful if the theme is installed first.
This works with free or paid version of BackCountry Navigator as of 5.7.5. Maps and themes worked before them but have so far required a manual install.
