November 26, 2019 at 20:02 in reply to: New user – Windows –> Crusier 8.5, OFFLINE usage (quota internet), general Qs #32289
Specifically if I’m attempting to do a route cruiser tells me to ‘load a graph’ & it I try & create a graph it appears to want me to load a OSM file. How can one use this feature offline with your map specifically for hiking?
Offline routing in Cruiser needs first to load offline routing graphs created with desktop Cruiser using osm/pbf files. Can download them from Geofabrik.
Offline routing supports the following travel modes: car, foot, bike. The other thing that isn’t showing offline is the actual (3D) elevation data; cruiser went online & downloaded the data for the local area. Is there a way to download an archive of this & then provide to cruiser for your map?
Hillshading in Cruiser is online provided by the available servers.

An early preview of Voluntary themes that work well with curved text for street names, now available in the most recent versions of Locus and Orux (beta at present).
That is already available in Mapsforge, thanks to community’s contribution!

We provide the needed S3DB tags in Mapsforge tag-mapping.
And can find complete v5 maps with all S3DB tags in Mapsforge and Kurviger servers.

It should work according to #1041, but it’s been time since then to remember and have not a minimal example available to check.
In Mapsforge tag-mapping we mostly have %f for numeric values, used on 3D buildings in VTM.
like “ref” “addr:housenumber” “ele”
Unless use Mapsforge maps v5 where there are not such restrictions anymore.
It’s important to compare fixed zoom levels, as VTM has continuous scaling and the zoom levels are “derived” from it.
Can see #217 for a detailed discussion and how to properly compare the two map engines using the “Go to” tool and the fixed zoom levels.
For example the attached images show exactly the same area.

VTM stellt Linien auf dem PC, anders als unter Android, sehr dünn da.
Have you checked latest VTM or Cruiser GL ?
That case should be greatly improved by now.I have not heard any reason, why this should be that way.
Already answered above.
In all projects any implementation is done according to specific needs the time it is authored.Like mentioned in Mapsforge forum discussion and relevant issue #814, the scale=all was implemented mostly to help with stroke-dasharray scaling.
Everything else is a new feature and should be planned accordingly or could be contributed by the community.
Beschriftungen und Symbole sind nun aber nicht etwas in der Realität vorhandenes, das an höhere Zoomlevel angepasst werden muss, damit das Verhältnis noch stimmt.
Precisely, all maps when zoom in scale their areas and lines. But symbols and texts have little meaning to scale them per zoom, would result in an ugly map with huge elements. Also png or svg symbols cannot be scaled continuously, would lead to bad map rendering performance and png blurriness.
Verwenden wir diese Mapsforge-Version schon ?
Cruiser currently integrates it. And still exists in Mapsforge snapshots for testing.
Nach dem bisherigen Verlauf der Updategeschwindigkeit würde ich sagen das wird irgendwann 2025 so weit.
Also because some prefer to fragment community instead of working with upstream repository.
Noch eine Frage an die Mapsforge-Spezialisten:
Ist es möglich, wie bei den XCTrails, einen caption-Text an die Linie anzuschmiegen ???Thanks to community work, that is now possible.
Cruiser platform supports multiple languages.
There was no time to translate the resources.e.g. Kurviger is based on Cruiser and has already 6 languages.
I’m following all OpenAndroMaps discussions!
