Could you consider making building=place_of_worship equivalent to building=church, please? We already have
osm-tag key="building" value="church" equivalent-values="cathedral,chapel,monastery,mosque,temple,wayside_shrine,shrine,religious,synagogue,stupa"
I don’t want to simply render amenity=place_of_worship as the same as a building because that misrepresents outdoor places of worship. (I think the Elevate theme currently does that.)

Hi John,
you’re right, building=place_of_worship is missing, although it’s just 195 buildings. It might make more sense to use building=place_of_worship as main tag and all others as equivalent, but that would break compatibility.
Thanks for reminding me about the building workarounds – it might make sense to abandon those, as I put them in Elevate a long time ago to fix missing buildings (either missing building tags in OSM or missing buildings in tag-mapping), but now the map data is better and so the strategy should be in fixing the map data and not working around it.
