    Hi,
i use locusmaps with openandromaps with Elevate theme for hiking. I noticed that the paths that have both a local OSM relevance and a national or European OSM relevance are displayed on the map with the higher relevance (for example SI for the „Sentiero Italia“ which has a national relevance instead of the local numbering with local relevance, for example, 127 Italian Alpine Club); unfortunately on the field the trail signs only show the local numbering, creating difficulties in identifying the path to follow (or it is certainly more convenient to follow the local numbering if both signposts are present on the field).

It is possible to introduce the possibility of displaying both the denominations or the possibility or choosing the type of numbering to be displayed on the map through the lucusmaps overlap menu?

    Hi Stefano,
at the moment only the highest priority of routes are contained in the maps, e.g. so if there’s an international route, no data for a national one is contained and therefore can’t be displayed. That’s because only one route tag per way can be set. We’ve been discussing to change this, but it’s a lot of work and it’s not certain that it will work out. At the moment we’re in a transitional process anyway, so big changes like this aren’t possible.
    Best regards,
    Tobias

I too have observed this, and also find it annoying that lwn/rwn routes are masked by nwn/iwn routes – this often happens in the UK. LoMaps do not have this problem, each route is fully defines fully and independently.

However this does cause issues with rendering, especially when 2 or 3 routes of the same network designation use the same way.

Now that the ref key is split out between bike and hike routes, we no longer have the merged refs, e.g. 45/GW would be shown when both bike route 45 and hike route GW follow the same way. They are (thanks) now shown as separate 45 and GW.

Idea: could we have something similar for when there are multiple hike routes (or bike routes) on the same way, perhaps set the ref to a merged list of ref values.

E.g. if a way has GW and WYS hike routes on it, set the ref to GW/WYS.

That’s an idea we’ve been discussing internally, also have just one way for each kind of route (I/N/R/L), so that the mapsize doesn’t get so big.

But that would take some development time, and we’re still in the big transition process so that Michael can take over the map rendering from Christian, so any big changes will be postponed.
