I would like to confirm that if I change the name of map files I download from the default name of, for example, ‚Australia-NT_oam.osm.map‘ to say ‚Oz NT 2025-10.map‘, that I must also change the name of the corresponding POI file to ‚Oz NT 2025-10.poi‘. If this is not the case can someone either explain how the map file/POI file relationship works, or point me to a current and definitive text on the subject please.
For various reasons, I keep older versions of map files on my devices so, after downloading each update, I like to change the names of the map and POI files by appending the download date to them so I know which is which. I have always assumed this would be all that was required but decided it is time to confirm it is the case.
I am using the Android version of OruxMaps (10.7.4 GP).
My apologies if this has been covered somewhere previously but I have searched online and cannot find anything that explicitly answers the question.
