Hello,

my name is Andrea Cornini and I am developing a completely free Android application called AC-Tracker.

AC-Tracker has no ads, no in-app purchases and no donations to me.

AC-Tracker is an outdoor tracking app for hiking and walking. It supports offline Mapsforge maps, GPX recording, GPX import/export, elevation profiles, DEM/HGT data and hillshading.

Before publishing the app on Google Play, I would like to ask for your permission and guidance regarding the use of OpenAndroMaps map files.

The app allows users to browse a map catalog and download OpenAndroMaps map files for offline use. The maps are not bundled inside the APK and are not sold. The user explicitly chooses which map to download.

To reduce server load and encourage fair use, I have implemented the following safeguards:

– only one map download or update can run at a time;
– maximum 5 new map downloads per day;
– maximum 5 map updates per day;
– download and update limits are enforced inside the app;
– clear credits and links to OpenAndroMaps are shown inside the app;
– users are invited to support OpenAndroMaps and the other data sources with donations or by visiting the official websites.

The privacy/credits page includes the related data sources, attribution wording, official links and a note explaining that AC-Tracker does not modify the original OpenAndroMaps/OpenStreetMap map data, the Elevate theme or the original DEM data; it downloads, extracts and uses them locally for offline rendering, hillshading, elevation and related features.

I have read the OpenAndroMaps license page and I would like to make sure that my implementation is respectful of your terms before publishing the app.

Could you please let me know:

1. whether this use is allowed;
2. which attribution wording you prefer;
3. whether there are any technical limits or additional notices you would like me to include;
4. whether there are any other conditions I should follow before publishing.

Its OK, do it.
But be aware that projects like the OAM may be discontinued – so dont put all eggs in one basket.
