Unfortunately every new Mapsforge/Osmosis version needs more and more resources for building maps.Oktober 7, 2017 um 11:21 Uhr #20515EmuxTeilnehmerOktober 7, 2017 um 18:52 Uhr #20519ChristianKAdministratorHi Emux,
In the beginning of mapsforge V3 I was able to render even the (real big) Alps.map with a heap of 2,6GB on my 32bit Notebook.
Now I need a heap of 5GB for this map otherwise I run OutOfHeapSpace.Dont get me wrong – I don’t complain, there were tons of improvements like much better handling of faulty polygons, there are no longer white tiles in the maps, aso..
However, its a fact that rendering 5-6 maps in paralles on a machine with 32GB RAM is max – while in the beginning 8-9 maps were possible.
… and on my mainboard 32GB is the limit …
So rendering of europe now takes at least 8 days + 2 days for Germany (incl all preprozessing, w/o contourlines,w/o land/sea)Again, no complaint just a fact and in general its my experience for over 30 years that every new version of an environment (java, osmosis, aso in this case) needs more an more resources.
Best regards

Yes, of course.
And V3/V4 maps in parallel (this does’nt effect RAM consumption but rendertimes), and better 1′ contourlines for many regions, and..
In the end – the rendermachine is on its absolute limits.BTW: The new European maps are online, only Scandinavia_North and Ukraine V4 is missing.
So testing of themes is possible now. - AutorBeiträge
