When installing maps, choosing the “Install to Locus” button seems to also install unzipped copies of the Elevate themes. This is not desirable as Locus themes should now remain zipped for reasons of speed.

July 30, 2022 at 08:43 #50582ChristianKKeymasterWell.,….
I can change the installation of the Theme to stay as zip, no Problem so far
So: All users then have 4 Themes:
Elevate unzipped as already on the device
Elevate zipped
Elements unzipped as already on the device
Elements zipped.Dont get me wrong but thats fine for us (we delete the outdated theme and keep APPs updated) but not for the common user.
I really, really hate situation like this….It means that users with an older version of Locus dont have a theme when installing OAM-Maps.
All other will have the old unzipped theme and the up2date zipped versionSo, what to do?
July 30, 2022 at 10:04 #50586JohnPercyParticipantI understand that on Android 11, unzipped themes are virtually unusable due to slowness enumerating the files. In which case installing an unwanted unzipped theme is a bad idea.
I find it somewhat annoying that every time I update the OAM map, I then have to manually delete an unzipped theme I’d not asked for and which I’d not been told was being installed.
On the basis that I update the maps on my device monthly and themes rarely, I’d suggest installing the zipped theme with the map and directing users of an outdated Locus app to the theme download page where they can install the unzipped theme.Voluntary and Velocity themes - https://voluntary.nichesite.org
July 30, 2022 at 11:13 #50588TobiasKeymasterOr installing no theme at all; we had this most of the time that OAM exists, and it still is like that for all other apps.

July 30, 2022 at 12:32 #50591ChristianKKeymasterOK, I switched to zip.
I cant reproduce this issue on the Android11 device of my sister (it was 10 and updated to 11) – however I trust you.And yes, 99% of the Locus installations should be up2date.
Scripts updated – Done
July 30, 2022 at 13:51 #50609TobiasKeymasterChristian, I saw the new post about this topic on the front page. Deleting a theme via a file manager isn’t so easy anymore. The theme location can differ and it’s usually in the private app directory now. And the file manager should be able to read and delete files in the private app directories, which isn’t always the case.
Easier would be to use the 3 dot menu in locus next to the theme name and press delete. Only problem is that you might delete the wrong one 😉Developer of Elevate mapstyle
