Hi,avatar_christian

This grey panther on the photo is living in the valley of the Danube
at the east end of the beautiful Wachau in Austria.
You can easily find me paddling on the Danube or on the Lakes around,
walking in the mountains of lower Austria, just look…

I wish you pleasant walks, paddling and cycling

Christian

Hi too,
Tobias
since I published here in a comment in September 2013 the first version of my map theme Elevate, I have also contributed to the enhancement of the maps and to the support besides further developing the themes.

Before that I was an enthusiastic user of Christian’s maps, mainly while hiking in the Bavarian and Tyrolean Alps, but also while traveling in all directions.

I wish you some great experiences,

Tobias

    Hallo Christian,

      LG, Christian

Hi, I’m not sure yoi received my previous email as it’s not showing on this page. So please excuse me if you’ve already seen it. I posted the following request :

    Hello Christian,

I’ve started using GPX Viewer PRO, for my long distance walking. The app uses OpenStreetMap for online and downloadable backgrounds. Users on OpenStreetMap Forum have recommended I use your service to obtain the country tiles for this. (and I will donate to you too, as there’s no such thing as a free lunch in the UK!)

However, I’ve downloaded the GB zip file and it won’t unzip. So, I need your help/advice in getting the file open.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
    Russell

      Hi,

I haven’nt any experience with this APP.
If you click on “INSTALL ON ANDROID” ist up to Programmer of the APP to handle the Action Script (and thus decompressing the file and coy the *.map to the approbriate location)
I cant handle the file once it is on your device.

So, if the APP cant handle the direct install the simple solution is:
Download the file and unzip it with ZARCHIVER: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver – the most reliable ZIP-APP I know.

Then copy theme and *.mapfile to the folders your APP require – done

Hi, there is no download link for Locus. The Link is for installation of the map + renderthemes into Locus on your mobile Android device. So if you want to download the map klick on the “Download V4 Map” download button. If you want to install the map into Locus on your Android Device chose “Andoid install on: LOCUS Map+POis”.

Maybe you don’t want more downloads but I am using Open Andro Maps with Mobile Atlas Creator to produce raster tiles. So the maps can be used with apps such as Alpinequest that do not support Mapsforge vector maps.

    Hello,

I tried to make a donation with a credit card (no paypal account), but still Paypal keeps asking for my phone number. I made donations in the past using ‘0000000….’ but that doesn’t seem to work anymore. Do you have a way I can donate with a credit card without using paypal?

      Hallo Martin,

Kreditkartenzahlungen benötigen einen Payment Provider, das zahlt sich bei OAM nicht im mindesten aus 😉
Ich nehme den Willen für das Werk und wünsche Dir noch viele schöne Touren mit den OAM.

      LG, Christian

    Hello Christian/Tobias,

I just downloaded maps in the new format but I noticed that contour lines (isolines) does not periodically show elevation in meters (above sea level) any longer, is there something missing?

    Thanks,

    Hi,
I find that there is something wrong with the Map “Madagascar incl Reunion and Mauritius”: no backgroud, no contoure lines, only some points of place names. I am wondering why. Could you help? (with Orux7.1.4, other maps normally displayed). Thank you.

    Hi Christian,

with your title including “Andro” you will probably not take kindly to me being an Apple user. But please can you point me to where i can find maps with the same level of detail that i can use on my iPhone.

i am very grateful for any help. i do of course use google maps etc, but they dont have the same level of classification of routes. i also use Wikiloc, but it is not ideal for planning.

    thank you

    Hey Christian,
This is Yang Fan, I’m live in Beijing, China, and I have been usin your maps for a long time. I found that many Chinese people do not use topo map in outdoor activities. I think the main reason is that language barriers. I want to build a website in Chinese language and offer topo maps, and, I got the domain name “DengGaoTu.com” it’s literally meaning Topo Map in Pinyin. And, basically, I want to offer all of your stuff on the website. I will credit you, your website name and URL on my site, and I can put the more information on my site, as long as you think it is necessary.

    Can I do it?

    Best regards,

    YANG Fan

      Hi Yang,

Well, I like the idea of spreading the maps round the globe.

In the other hand the site and the expensive hardware behind is funded by donations only.
If the maps are mirrored on other sites no one will visit openandromaps.org and we dont have the chance to raise money for the project – money we realy need.

At a first glance you can start with the maps of china, not more.
You can link these maps like
      https://www.openandromaps.org/maps/asia/China-East.zip

The pictures of the coverage and all other pics you want to serve have to be hosted on your own Domain cause this consumes expensive bandwidth on maxcdn for me.
Please give me the referer IP of your website once it starts so that I can set you on the whitelist (if not you are probably trapped in the server fence).
I will take a look at your site and if its OK we can discuss further steps.

      Best regards,
      Christian

        Hey Christian,
I still working on my website at part time. and my website is only in chinese, most of chinese people are not used to browse and sreach for the non-chinese language site, this my inpact on your website traffic is not very important, and, I think other language user will still visit your site, because we use chinese is also a language barrier for the non-chinese speaker.

And, I know mapping technology is not well.
My initial idea was locally stored your maps on my hosting. I hope it’s all of your maps. and I will link back to your site on my homepage with your logo, and put each map source on every map page. I can according to your wishes, put your donation script on my page, homepage link to.

In order to be able to reply you in time, can i get your email address?

Sorry for late answer in fact I dont have very warm feelings for chinese.
          Why?
Chinese hackers cost me 3-4 hours every week fighting against their attempts to hack or bring down my site – sorry.
