We implemented Mapsforge multilingual vector maps (dev branch).
The maps are already produced at our server with local,en,de,fr,es.

We made changes in map writer and reader modules, also advancing map format version due to multilingual names storage.

Currently Beta versions of Cruiser and Atlas support multilingual maps via ‘map language’ menu, with option for preferred and local map language at the same time.

Forgot to mention that you need to use dev map-writer with option preferred-languages and multiple comma separated languages.

More details about the naming rules can be found at our wiki page.

    Hi Emux,

Good news, really good news :-)
Actually Tobias and I are working on a mayor step of improving the OAM (adjusting zoom-appear of polys and poly labels depending on their size)

When this is done I will take a look at the multilingual writer cause multilingual maps are often requested by users.
Untill now I had to render the same map twice for native/english.

Many thanks for all your efforts!

We’re in the process of releasing Mapsforge 0.6.0 with main new feature the multilingual maps.

I published new versions of Cruiser / Atlas with full support of latest Mapsforge.
