Hi Judy,
you missed probably something in the installation instructions. The easiest installation for Elevate in OruxMaps 6.0.* is this:
– Open https://www.openandromaps.org/en/legend/elevate-mountain-hike-theme in a browser on your android device
– Press on “OruxMaps” in the column “Install in Android” below “Downloads” in the “Elevate 2” table
– In OruxMaps use “Menu”, “Tweaks”, “Mapsforge style” to choose the map style (Elevate_Hiking.xml or other variation)More instructions see here:
http://static1.openandromaps.org/wp-content/users/tobias/installation2.txtThe manual install method should work with Voluntary too.
Best regards,

December 12, 2015 at 12:36 #7481My current version is no longer compatible with the standard version of Orux Maps. I’ll look into it.
To get Elevate to work with the standard Orux Maps, you need to install Elevate version 2 directly from this site. Elevate version 3 requires Orux Maps beta 6.4December 12, 2015 at 12:49 #7483I have Orux Beta 6.5.0rc 6 and latest OSM GB: your Voluntary certainly IS working.
Best wishes,
JimDecember 12, 2015 at 12:54 #7486That’s very helpful, Jim.
It looks like the Voluntary Theme requires the beta version of Orux maps at present which can be downloaded from the Oruxmaps forum at http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2560.December 13, 2015 at 20:48 #7493Many thanks. I’ve got it working with the beta version.

December 14, 2015 at 00:51 #7498Attached is a version of Voluntary Orux theme that works with the current standard version of Oruxmaps (6.0.x)
For Oruxmaps 6.5.x (currently in beta, available from Oruxmaps forum http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/ ) I think the Voluntary Atlas theme is better.
The Locus version is basically unchanged.January 19, 2016 at 17:17 #7888Orux maps has released 6.5.0 so Voluntary-Orux (above) is only required for old installations or backwards compatibility. Voluntary-Atlas is now preferred for OruxMaps, Atlas and Cruiser.
February 16, 2016 at 00:44 #8278Updated again.
Voluntary Orux is no longer needed — use Voluntary Atlas for Oruxmaps, Atlas and CruiserThe main changes are:
– Added Contraflow cycleway in one way street;
– Added mountain bike trails
– Reworked all symbols with slightly transparent thin border for subtly improved visibility
– Updated keyJune 6, 2016 at 19:17 #10069Updated again
– cycle lanes in roads (short blue dots in road) and tracks alongside roads (longer blue dashes in road) now shown for maps from this site.
– Renamed Voluntary Atlas to Voluntary Cruiser to fit with change of application name
– First stab at resolution-independent patternsJune 13, 2016 at 11:34 #10205A minor update to fix a bug in my themes related to Locus styles
June 13, 2016 at 12:18 #10211Attached in this post.
August 22, 2016 at 12:07 #12095Improved rendering of cliffs, ridges, dams, quarries, shingle, hiking bike and MTB trails, fixed sandbanks in rivers.
Improved distinction between cycle track and cycle lanes and improved their visibility.
Updated full resolution key at http://bit.ly/voluntarykeyAugust 23, 2016 at 00:12 #12108Here’s the updated files
January 16, 2017 at 23:32 #15276I’ve reworked the Voluntary theme to take advantage of selectable style overlays in themes. Display of hiking, cycle and mountain bike routes can now be switched on or off, as can highlighting for each of them. I’ve limited the number of options shown to aid ease of use.
If you are using Locus, as far as possible this works for both LoMaps from Locus Store and maps from OpenAndroMaps.
There are other improvements, including embankments and dykes and cycle tracks and lanes on OpenAndroMaps and a Yellow version to help when using overlays such as Strava in Locus (see http://www.locusmap.eu/strava-heatmap-in-locus-why-not/).
I have also provided a slightly more limited version for Cruiser and Orux. The “bugfix” version has been retired.
As this is the first release with these features, please treat this as a beta and let me have your comments, please.
Downloadable key: http://bit.ly/volkeybetaJanuary 26, 2017 at 15:07 #15447I’ve improved Voluntary Cruiser so that it has the same range of styles for the theme as the version for the LocusMaps app. so that Cycle, Hiking, City and Road styles function almost as presets with a limited range of tailored options, while Multi and Yellow have a fuller (but manageable) range of options. The key (same link as post above: http://bit.ly/volkeybeta ) has also been updated.
This is still beta, but almost ready for release. -
